Unique Group Living for Frail Elders

In collaboration with the Boston Housing Authority, Summer House is the first residence of its kind in the Greater Boston area where frail elders, who otherwise might be in a nursing facility, can live safely and comfortably with 24 hour service.

Summer House is a four-bedroom apartment, located at Malone Apartments in Hyde Park. The apartment provides a home for four elders, who are supported by a home health aide that lives in a separate unit upstairs and is on call 24 hours a day.

Residents receive assistance with shopping, bathing, grooming, dressing, laundry, meal preparation, cooking, medication management and transportation. In addition, they have access to a personal medical alert emergency response service, case management, money management program and an adult day health program. It is handicapped accessible and convenient to stores and restaurants.

The minimum eligibility requirements for Summer House residents are as follows: age 62 or over, eligible for MassHealth, public housing and entry into a nursing home, and require daily supervision. To obtain a rental application or more details on Summer House contact Ethos at 617.522.6700.
