When I first met Mary, her husband had died just days before. Even before this
loss, though, she had become completely isolated-living basically as a shut-in
on a meager diet. She had no income, no health insurance. In fact, she hadn't
seen a doctor in 10 years, leaving her high blood pressure and various other
ailments untreated.

Within days, I'm happy to say that we managed to get her signed up with
home-delivered meals and in-home medical followup. We also convinced her
sister, who lives nearby, to make regular visits. And best of all, we discovered
that her husband's former job with the City entitled her to his pension, health
insurance, and life insurance benefits.

With this assistance, Mary has made an amazing turnaround, relatively healthy
and living at home where she wants to be, but no longer isolated and uncared for.
